The Aviation Song

The songs is a random song I wrote just before departing on my exciting adventure at woodstock 99, at little after 1 am on july 19th. When I came back from woodstock, I found this song I had written and thought it was quite nice. Or maybe I wrote it a week before I went to woodstock, then discovered it again just before leaving. Any hoo, i forgot all about it. I then recorded it in i think febuary or maybe january of 2000. Any hoo, who cares.

This song was long forgotten when I had found it, thought it was a nice song, and wanted a girl to sing it. I asked my friend Laura Conover to sing it. She was a great friend at the time, and some times she would sing in the car and I thought she sounded nice. She was also in a chor us at her school. She was barried and inaudiable but i thought she did a good job any ways, probably just cause i could see her. I was proud of her. Any hoo, I asked her to sing on my record and she refused saying "i can't sing" and i tried to convince her she could and I should know cause ive spentd so much time around music, and I always liked it when she sang in the car, when ever she did she made me feel real good, cause of the way she sang it. I decided she had rock n roll in her soul. We always lissened to the oldies station, so she would sing to oldies. She would say "I don't know why you think I can sing." I kept telling her that she could and even if she couldn't it didn't matter because she should lissen to Sonnets Set To Music, where notions like "i can't play guitar" or "i can't keep time" or "i can't sing" were set aside. I thought she would have been perfect, but low and behold, she refused, and so I did the girl part myself. Doesn't this remind you a bit of what happoned with the girl part on The Water Song?

The bells you here on the song are just glasses of water i was dinging with a spoon.

As usual, I failed to write a chorus when I wrote the song. I recorded a version with a terrable chorus, but it sucked. So I re recorded it and just resang the verse as back up singers. I think it worked nicely. The voice I do for the back up singers, reminds me of my friend Jon Snow as well.

I really like the guitar part on this song, where i was just playing with the whammy bar. I think when the guitar comes in on the chorus, if you lissen, it sounds like the kind of melody you would find on a Nirvana B-side.

The breakes where you hear the drum were accidental, but I think added something nice to the song.

I am very pleased with this song, its one of my favorites.

i'm a flying machine
yeah im an air plain
i like being what i am
no i cant compalin
i've got a perpeller on my face
and i think its great
if i lost my perpeller
i'd get real irate

i like being a plain
yeah its the life for me
i like flying in the sky
i like velocity
i got guns so i can shoot
down canadien planes
some times i even point my guns down
at cars and trains

i'm a flying machine
i fly all around
i drink gas
so i dont hit the ground
now if youd like a ride
just let me know
if you give me some money
ill bring you where you wanna go

im an air plain
i got wings, wheels and pontoons
so i can land on a run way
or in a monsoon
i love being an air plaine
i love what i do
i'm proud of what i am
and if you disagree than fuck you
