I'm Happy

One day durring first year on 10th grade, i was looking through my laundry before school one day, trying to find a shirt when I just started to sing the first line in my head over and over again. It was a few minutes before i noticed what I was singing, but when I did, i said "wow!! that's great!!!" and proceaded to sing. That day I approached the other roosters with the song and that day we all sat down and came up with versus, making it the one and only song the federal roosters wrote together. This song was to be the title track from our preposed album, "Cow Giz In The Cunt Tree," (a clever way of spelling "Couches In The Country"). However, all that we came up with that day has since been lost, so all the versus are now ones that i came up with. I didn't come up with the chorus until i recorded it for Sonnets, because i thought it needed a chorus. Didn't you?

I wrote the music a little bit earlier, during a time when I was home sick from school. Same year though. The trick to the melody line was not to use the same notes twice. I did it on my key board, which basicly has 4 midi samplers on it, where you can record small snippets and it will store them as MIDI data and then plays it backwhen you hit the button, much like a sampler. It has four of these, alll of which can be played at once, so i played with them for about a minute or so. I had recorded it on to a regular cassette, and then put it on to my computer so I could send it to people.

The music and the lyrics matched up instantly, as soon as I had both written, I just had no idea how to arrange the music to fit the lyrics. The lyrics came into my head with the same tune and hand claps that you hear on the record, which was a tough match for the music i had written, but i had to put them togeather some how. I never did until it came time to record the song for Sonnets Set To Music. I took the track that was on the computer and played with it in some sound program so there was space for the versus and so it was long enough. It only uses parts of it though.

This is my second most digital track, as the entire back round was edited on some share ware computer program before putting it back on to tape to over dub myself. I still dig it though. The heavy hiss, particularly at the end, isn't from the tape. Its actually the computer, which actually had some auto-gain control feature on. So, particularly when it fades at the end, the computer actually turned the gain up, which caused the massive build of hiss. Thiss happoned else where on the record, but I don't care.
